A quieter week, but Oracle and Adobe bring the AI-earnings story back to center stage — After a stretch of blowout AI-infrastructure prints from names like Broadcom, Dell, and MongoDB, the calendar cools off heading into next week -- Oracle and Adobe both report Wednesday after the close, and Kroger closes out the week with a read on the health of the consumer.
Coming up next week
3 companies scheduled to report.
Oracle cloud infrastructure backlog has exploded on massive AI-compute deals (including with OpenAI), pushing RPO into the hundreds of billions; investors want proof that backlog is converting into actual OCI revenue and that margins hold up given the debt-funded capex needed to build out AI data centers.
Adobe keeps facing worries that generative AI tools are eroding its Creative Cloud moat; watch for Firefly and AI-assistant monetization traction and whether Digital Media growth can reaccelerate enough to quiet competitive concerns.
Kroger reports against a backdrop of persistent food-at-home inflation and heavy grocery-industry promotions; watch gross margin trends, digital/delivery growth, and whether updated full-year guidance signals consumers trading down.
What this is (and isn't)
A fourth, independent lens — this one on the companies that just reported (or are about to), not the tape itself.
Every weekday evening around 7:30 PM ET, a separate job checks which notable companies (our own maintained watchlist, plus other market-moving names when relevant) reported earnings after that day's close, and runs each through a "Triple Check": actual EPS and revenue against Wall Street consensus, and — the part that drives most of the actual price reaction — forward guidance. On Fridays, a same-day recap is low-value heading into a weekend with no trading day right after, so that run instead previews which notable companies are scheduled to report the following week.
- This job never places trades — it has no access to cash, holdings, or the trade ledger
- Ideas here are commentary, not positions in the paper portfolio
- It's fine, and common, for a quiet night (or week) to produce nothing to report
Timing
Weekday evenings run the recap above; Fridays run the week-ahead preview instead.
4:00 PM ET
The market closes. Most companies that report today do so shortly after this, in the after-hours session.
~7:30 PM ET
This job fires — enough time for the initial post-earnings price reaction and analyst commentary to develop — and this page updates.
